We’ve gathered most common questions from our guests to help you prepare for your next adventure on the water. If you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly.
1. What type of charters does Guerita Sportfishing offer?
1. Half-Day Inshore Charters: Perfect for a quick outing with family or friends. 2. Full-Day Offshore Charters: Ideal for serious anglers to make the most of their day on the water. 3. Sightseeing Charters: Cruise past iconic landmarks such as the Arch (a.k.a. Land’s End,) Lover’s Beach, Divorce Beach and scenic rock formations along the coastline. 4. Whale Watching Charters: Humpback and Grey Whales abound in the waters off Los Cabos from September to January with peak months being January and February. See Humpbacks jumping in the air or slapping their tails on the water. They also love to lay on their sides and wave their fins back and forth. Grey Whales can sometimes be seen popping their heads out of the water to look around. 5. Sunset Cruises: cruise along the coastline of Cabo San Lucas in a private charter, waiting for the sun to set over the Pacific Ocean. Ideal for couples, newly-weds, families and small groups.
2. How many boats do you have?
We have only one boat – Guerita III, a 37’ SeaRay Express. She is a fully equipped, electronic vessel with an English=speaking captain and crew plus all fishing gear, fish finder technology and all safety equipment.
We prefer to have only one boat which gives us the opportunity to give more personalized attention to our clients. If you need more boats we can get them for you so that your whole package is coordinated, affording less confusion.
3.What can I expect to catch?
The species you can catch depend on time of year and location. Our most common catches include:
- Marlin
- Tuna
- Dorado (Mahi-Mahi)
- Snapper
- Wahoo
Our experienced crew will guide you to the best spots for the season!
4. Do I need a fishing license?
Everyone on the boat must have a fishing license whether fishing or not. When you book with Guerita Sportfishing, we get all necessary fishing licenses, so you don’t need to worry about any paperwork. Just show up and fish!
5. What should I bring with me?
- Sunscreen
- Hat and sunglasses
- Comfortable clothing (light layers work best)
- Camera (for those memorable catches)
- Fishing gear (we provide all the necessary gear, but feel free to bring your own if you prefer)
6. Is food and drink included?
No, but you can order box lunches, sodas & water from the order form on our website. Or you can bring your own food & drinks, if you prefer.
7. How many people can join a trip?
1.Deep-Sea Offshore Fishing Charter – 8 clients. 2.Inshore Fishing Charter – 8 clients. 3.Sightseeing, Whale Watching and Sunset Cruises – 10 clients.
However, the permitted amounts are way too high. For an enjoyable and prosperous days, we recommend the following:
1.Deep Sea Fishing Charter – 5 or 6 clients. 2.Inshore Fishing Charter – 5 or 6 clients. 3.Sightseeing, Whale Watching and Sunset Cruises – 5 or 7 clients.
If you have too many and the fishing happens to be “not so good” everyone might not have a chance to fish. Or you may not be able to see what’s happening with the person “on the pole” because you can’t crowd around that person or the transom of the boat.
8. What if I get seasick?
We recommend taking precautions if you’re prone to seasickness. Consider taking motion sickness medication, preferably non-drowsy, before your trip or bring motion sickness bands. If you feel as though you are going to be sick, it is recommended to be up on deck and not in the cabin. Our crew will do their best to make your experience as comfortable as possible.
9. Are there any age restrictions?
We welcome anglers of all ages! Families with children are encouraged. Children under 12 should be accompanied by an adult. If you’re bringing young children, please let us know so we can ensure safety measures are in place.
10. Do you offer private charters?
We don’t do shares so all our charters are private allowing you to choose the type of fishing, duration, and even the stops along the way. Availability and pricing are on our website.
11. What happens if the weather is bad?
Safety is our top priority. If the weather is too dangerous (heavy rain, high winds, etc.,) we will reschedule your trip or offer a full refund if we can’t accommodate you on another day. We always monitor weather conditions closely to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
12. What are your cancellation policies?
